An Andorran AI project succeeds at Harvard University

This week Andorra appeared in some American Media and it is beacuse of good news. Yann Calvó, an Andorran entrepreneur has been recognized with a $75,000 prize from Harvard University. The reason is the project this entrreneur has founded. It is called refine.ink. It is a technological project based on artificial intelligence to detect errors in technical documents. This tool is already used by institutions such as the Bank of Spain after accelerated growth in just one year.

“We use AI to test technical documents looking for reasoning errors: mathematical, statistical, logical, etc. It took me two days to do the work I was doing and I wasn’t doing it half as well as I could with AI used properly.”

The entrepreneur highlights that the project has had the collaboration of top international researchers in order to maximize the system. After a year of development, the product was released on the market in October and the response exceeded all expectations. Even the Bank of Spain started using the service. Regarding the recognition received, Calvó explains that initially he did not give much importance to the award announcement, but that he ended up applying when he saw the financial endowment.

“I received an email from Harvard explaining that there was a prize. At first I was not interested, but then I saw that it was awarded with 75,000 dollars and I thought I had nothing to lose.”

Who is Yann Calvó?

Yann is a researcher and engineer at the intersection of computer science and AI. He graduated with honors in economics from University College London while competing in fencing. He subsequently conducted research at the Institute for Fiscal Studies and Northwestern University. He is currently pursuing graduate studies in computer science and applied mathematics at Harvard’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

What is refine.ink?

Refine.ink is an AI-powered technical peer-review agent designed to stress-test and audit complex research papers and academic manuscripts. It is tailored for theory-heavy disciplines such as economics, applied mathematics, formal philosophy, and theoretical computer science.

Its Core Capabilities are the following:

  • Checking mathematical reasoning: Identifying sign errors and logical fallacies in proofs.
  • Auditing statistical specifications: Flagging flawed assumptions or errors in data and empirical specifications.
  • Ensuring consistency: Reviewing notation, definitions, and exposition for clarity and alignment.

Instead of just proofreading for style or grammar, Refine.ink evaluates a manuscript’s internal logic and substance. REFINE started as a small project but it has grown fast. As I show you in the image below, it has the support of big educational institutions like Yale, Oxford, OpenAI or Cambridge between many others.

How to use refine.ink?

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Sign Up: Go to the Refine.ink Homepage to create a free account and claim your initial review credit.
  2. Upload Your Manuscript: Submit your paper as a PDF (up to 70,000 words or 50MB).
  3. Wait for the Report: The tool will analyze your paper and generate a structured report in under 30 minutes, flagging mathematical errors, logical gaps, and definition inconsistencies.
  4. Revise: Use the feedback to fix sign errors, adjust mathematical proofs, or clear up expository issues before final submission.

Refine typically processes your document in approximately 20-40 minutes, depending on its length and complexity. It uses significant computing power, reasoning for many hours, but does so efficiently by parallelizing the process. While we are working hard to make it even faster, we prioritize quality over speed.

Refine support the following formats: .txt, .md, .markdown, .pdf, .docx, .odt, .rtf, .html, .htm, .epub, .tex, .latex. Custom LaTeX often has rendering issues, so .pdf is preferred.

Cost of REFINE.INK

It operates on a credit system rather than a monthly subscription. You only pay per document processed. Unused credits roll over to the next month. The cheapest plan is around 40$.

REFINE is reaching extreme popularity

There are many people talking about Refine on social media. But they are nto ordinary users. People who post about this insane technology are mostly intellectuals, people with very sophisticated tech knowledge, big corporations, universities and research institutions, between many others.

He is a PHD student at MIT. This is the intellectual American Elite. Most known pioneers who founded big technological corporations studied and researched in MIT.

Why did refine.ink succeed?

Refine.ink succeeded by acting as a highly specialized, tireless auditor for researchers, using frontier compute to stress-test mathematical proofs, statistical specifications, and internal logic. Its success stems from a clear focus on deep reasoning, winning the top prize at the Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge.

Best for: Economics, computer science, mathematics, and social science papers. It is highly tailored for papers where internal logic and rigorous math proofs need strict verification.

But at the same time it is not ideal for life sciences, clinical research, or highly qualitative/citation-heavy papers that require novelty comparisons to live databases.

Conclusion

Refine has just started. These last days it is reaching a lot of popularity because of the recent Harvard recognition. But its utility is what will end makinf the platform mainstream. Most Andorran people never heard about this project until they saw it on international headlines. But some Internatioanl Educational and Financial institutions were already using Refine. Now it is time for you to check its potencial.
