Today is a historical day for Andorra, not because we created a media, but because today is 160 years since a historical event took place in our Principality, La Nova Reforma.
It was a political reform to modernize the country. Besides being political it was about something else. The pioneers of this reform wanted to push out Andorra from poverty and isolation. Even if most authors consider this reform a political one, I see it as a purely economic reform. In fact the ones who led the reform had specific ideas that were never approved until now. For example, one of the pioneers pretended to build a casino. He was called crazy in such a way he had to leave the country. Finally, 160 years after Andorra recently built a Casino.
Today most people living in Andorra complain about the massive recent increase in Andorra’s population. And of course there are reasons for that, but if our ancestors would have had this mindset, today in Andorra we would be 5.000 inhabitants only. Reforms are hard to h andle in the short-term but if they are well-executed and fair, in the long-term they end up creating a successful scenario. Of course, short-term challenges always exist. In 700 years of independence, Andorra has faced innumbered challenges and many of them were very difficult to solve. But they are unknown to most people living in Andorra today. Maybe Schools and the Media are not teaching enough about it.
The Andorran Post was born today honoring those visionaries because we feel identified with them. Of course, we don’t compare to them, but they are our inspiration. Our aim is to create a media which helps users not only to be informed but to understand the news in a deep way, using data and predictability. We love our past, but we prepare for our future.
We are not a common media, we are something else. We want to create a community of visionaries, entrepreneurs and people from different industries, backgrounds and capabilities in order to build the best country in the world. It is not an easy task, it is a challenge. Our idea is to use technology and data to predict the future and analyze the consequences of every action. We want to analyze which projects and which decisions the country should develop in order to achieve objectives, with a long-term focus. We will train with different AI systems and specialists in order to know what is best for the country and how to manage the challenges which will force us to create the Alpine Singapore of the Pyrenees.
